It’s time to catch spring fever and while you’re at it, you can even spread it around if you like!
Here’s the idea, we make easy crochet flowers, keep them in our pockets and pass them out to total strangers just to watch them light up. Simple flowers, complex flowers, with a note or without, just make sure they go out with a smile attached. Why not leave one on a table at the coffee shop with a little tag or note for the next person to sit, or the server perhaps?
Maybe we could even add a little bobby pin to turn it into an instant accessory. We could leave a long ribbon on it so it can be used as a bookmark. Just a couple of ideas for now.
I’m gonna work on this idea a bit more, I’d love your input too, and the next post will include some patterns we can use to get started.
We’ll use the #SpringsFever to share our creations and the stories that go with them. Where did you leave your flower? Who did you give one to? Did it make someone smile?
Who’s in?
Here are the instructions for the posy shown here:
Begin -make adjustable ring OR chain 5, join with slip stitch, ch 1
Row 1 -9 sc in loop, join to ch st, switch color
Row 2 -join new color in one of the sc loops, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next st, chain 4, repeat until you have completed 5 loops around.
Row 3 -sc, 1hdc,3 dc, 1hdc, sc in each loop that you just made, this will make the petals, switch color
Row 4-In back loops only, single crochet with new color all the way around flower, but make long sc (spike stitch) into the ring stitches when you get to the point in between each petal (This long stitch is made into the sc’s of row 2.). This helps define and give dimension.
-you can also add a picot in the center of each petal as you go around to give the petals a pointed look.
*Important note – The flower will curl over on itself if you do not use just the back loops on Row 4 (the last row).
