Living in the country: Last night, 10:30 or so, we heard a small explosion and all the power went out. We drove out to the road to see if the other properties around us had power, and they did. Damn! It was just our property. We haven’t received an electric bill yet, so we didn’t have the number of the utility company so we had to call the sheriff, who in turn, called the company for us. Just over an hour later, a gentleman shows up to help us and explains to my husband that the dead raccoon at the bottom of the transformer pole is most likely the reason the transformer blew and he would have the power up in a bit. Put the kids to bed by candlelight and explored the house with flashlights. New morning, and everything is back to normal.
