Back in the Crocheted Saddle . . .

crochet blanket mad mad me

To be honest, I’ve never owned a saddle and I’ve only been in one twice in my entire life BUT I’m happy to say that I’m HERE writing another post with you amazing people.

Let’s touch on that for a second . . . “you amazing people.” You are, without a doubt, a wonderful community of creative, caring and encouraging folks and I thank you for that. There is so much that I never would have tried and certainly would not continue to share and create if it weren’t for YOUR kindesses and your creative inspiration. You sure know how to make a girl feel welcome and special, thanks for hanging out with me.

Alright, so I’m ‘back’ meaning that I’m here and have so much to share with you that I have to try to keep it organized and break it up over the next several posts.

Firstly, Design Wars has been a great experience and I feel so brave having competed in it twice now. The first time I created the pattern for the Mad Motif and you all cheered me on! The second time, I wanted to make a beginner pattern that used color changes as a way of elevating the project to “look” like it was more complicated. That’s what this pile of yarn was for, and out of it came the Simply Mad Throw. And I placed second in three out of the five categories!!!

This throw is a double strand, multi-color ode to crochet using alternating single crochet. I had a great time playing with the colors on this one, please enjoy the pics!

Secondly, the Madlandia Trading Company Marketplace is up and running. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for years but just didn’t know where to start. But slowly and suredly, it developed and it’s here!

  1. I love colors you have selected, and the unique way you have used a simple single crochet, but I have what I hope will not be a stupid question. Although I have read and re-read the charts and the directions, I don’t seem to find anywhere how many skeins of each color are needed to complete the throw? Since some colors are repeated, do I need multiple skeins? Thanks for your help and for sharing your creativity with us. Susie J

    1. Thank you for your question Susie, there is this note on the pattern description in Raverly:

      “NOTE ABOUT YARDAGE
It is difficult to determine yardage since you are using small amount of many different colors. I used approximately 1 skein of each color in the blanket,. I used hardly any black or white since it is just in the edging.”

      I hope this helps.

  2. The throw is very beautiful, I love the colors you used. Will the pattern be for sale any time soon?

    Joanne

  3. You have a good eye for color and design. Your use of color is so beautiful. It reminds me so much of a friend who lost her battle with cancer this past year.

    1. I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your friend left a legacy of beauty for the world to remember and enjoy.

  4. i love your eye for color you are truly talented in many ways… i would love your mad wraps pattern

  5. This is so beautiful! I’d love to win the pattern for this, but if I don’t, I’ll probably buy it when I get some extra cash. And then finally make a blanket for myself! Mwahahaha!
