How to make the Mad Hook Organizers

This has been a long awaited post. Many of you have asked for the pattern to this hook organizer and it’s so simple I kept putting it off thinking that I could whip up a pattern in no time and here we are, almost a year later, and still no published pattern. So here we go, and I am ashamed that it took me this long (insert bashful face and fluttering eyes…)

I used an 8mm hook, and a fairly thick yarn (Charisma for the purple and green holder, and a thick wool blend for the earth tone holder).

  1. I chained 32 (more or less depending on how many hooks you want this to hold)
  2. Insert hook into 2nd chain from hook and sc in each stitch, ch 1, turn
  3. sc around back post of each st in row, ch 1, turn
  4. repeat row 3  until you have created a piece of fabric that  is wide enough to cover at least 2/3 the length of your hooks
  • Optional:
  • You can add magnets, or magnetic beads to the holder to assist in keeping track of your needles and small scissors
  • You can add an edging to one end of the holder to create a button hole for a closure, and sew a button on to the outside of the organizer wherever the hole lands when the organizer is rolled up
  • You can crochet a slip out embellishment that can function as a pin cushion
