“What do you do all day?”

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be an artist. But the funny thing is, I just realized this to be true. I have been ‘artsy’ and ‘crafty’ forever, and sold my work for the last 25 years. Hmmm, could it be that I am an artist? Did it really take all this time for me to figure that out? Yes, what a waste of time.

From now on, I’ll call myself an artist when people ask the age old question, “What do you do all day?” Sometimes, I’m a homeschooler, all the time I’m a mom and wife, sometimes I’m a photographer but all the time I’m an artist. Taking an artists approach to all the tasks set before me. I JUST realized this. The day of epiphone, February 9, 2015.

So now that I’ve got it all figured out what to call myself, I’d love to share some of the most recent ART I’ve been working on (that is going to take some time to get used to).

clay jar

I’m going through our house now, looking at all the little items I’ve saved for repurposing, and this little jelly jar was the first victim. Nothing is safe!

cane heart

I’ve also decided to delve into selling canes. I’ve been wanting to do this for years but have never gotten organized behind a system to do it. Time to jump into the deep end!

clay pen

Pens! I’ve been making pens for a long time but not on quality pen bases. This is a gift quality retractable pen that uses Cross pen refills. I think I could happily make about 2,000 of these and enjoy making each one. There is something about marrying the clay to such a functional item that is really satisfying.

scissors

And then we have scissors! I have spent INSANE amounts of money on little thread snips to keep in my travelling craft cases with my hooks, needles and thread. So it seemed natural that I should endeavor to create a line of clay handles.

There we have it. The work of an artist. Now I’ll spend my time living up to the title.
